روز چهارشنبه نهم مه (۲۰ اردیبهشت) مخالفان دولت سوریه از شهر حمص گزارش کردند که با وجود حدود یکماه از آغاز طرح آتش بس در این کشور، نیروهای ارتش به گلوله باران شدید این شهر ادامه داده اند.

این در حالی است که یازده نفر از ناظران صلح سازمان ملل و اتحادیه عرب در این شهر سوریه حضور دارند. حمص از زمان آغاز ناآرامی ها در سوریه همواره یکی از مراکز اصلی اعتراضات بوده است.

همزمان گزارشگر بی بی سی که به همراه ناظران صلح سفر می کند، می گوید اجرای آتش بس در سوریه "غیر ممکن" به نظر می رسد چرا که هر دو طرف درگیر به طور مکرر آن را نقض می کنند.
